Mdoroni, Kilifi – Pehoni House
An elegant, comfortable and calm four bedroom house in an enviable position overlooking the mouth of Kilifi Creek. Usually combined with neighbouring Behewa House, with which it shares colourful gardens with ancient baobabs, a lovely swimming pool and private beach access, the two houses together are perfect for larger family groups.
“Mdoroni was a haven away from home. The staff were exceptional. We loved the food, the stay and all the warm hospitality. Thank you – we will be back!”

“What a privilege to stay in such a beautiful place, looked after by such a stand-out professional group. The food was right up our alley – thank you Patrick and Naomi. Thank you Elizabeth and Stella for being so helpful and attentive – you are the best. Peter – your grounds are gorgeous. We loved every minute at this quiet piece of paradise and really hope to return.”

“House, gardens, beach, pool – it’s hard to think of good enough adjectives! And the staff make it the very best place to spend a February. We have loved it all.”
David & Sandra, UK
“Mdoroni is a tough place to leave. We have had a very special week together here. We particularly liked the people and the two dhow sailing trips we made up the creek. The birdlife is amazing. A beautiful, timeless, restful place. Thank you.”

All kinds of water sports and activities are available – from deep-sea fishing to snorkelling, water skiing and scuba diving – Kilifi Creek is home 3º South Water Sports Centre, AquaVentures Dive Centre, Sunset Dhow trips and much more. Kilifi attracts ocean sailors and the creek offers a fabulous deep-water yacht anchorage and is ideal for boating and windsurfing. Larger boats can be hired from the Boatyard about a mile up the creek on the south shore, where there is a pleasant bar and restaurant, and The Food Movement restaurant on the nearby Kilifi Plantation serves delicious organic meals. Mombasa, Malindi, the ancient ruins at Gedi and the Arabuko Sokoke Forest – all make interesting day trips from Kilifi and all are within about an hour’s drive of the house. There is an excellent new golf course at Vipingo Ridge about 25 minutes away – the course has been designed and built to the exacting USGA standard and is of international class. It has a spectacular setting, at the top of the ridge overlooking the Indian Ocean.
